We designed/dressed locations for this online comedy series, including the flat of the main characters, Mike and Rory, and a surrogacy centre. As the series spans 9+ months we had to show the progression of the story and how it affects the space the characters live in.

Initially Mike and Rory's flat is quite minimal, modern and organised. We wanted to give the impression they were lovers of the arts and well travelled, so we incorporated a black and white theme, original artwork, fictional art books and trinkets/photos from holidays. As the story evolves and the pregnancy becomes the focus of their lives, their flat becomes warmer and more colourful, with a feng-shui/Zen feel as if the couple are trying to create the perfect environment for nurturing a child. Finally, once the baby arrives, the flat is at its most homely, with fruit and flowers, more soft furnishings and an abundance of baby products.

As each episode is one continuous POV shot and the actors improvise, we had to dress the whole 360° view allowing the camera to move freely.

Set Dressing: Annette Parry & Theodora Ho. We initially created a modern/artistic space, hanging original artwork and collaging a monochrome table top.

Paper Cut Art: Annette Parry.
